A new report on substance abuse in Scotland has stated that many children get to lose a parent due to drug abuse every year.
In 2011, drugs took away parent or a parental figure from 331 children. The earlier figure was 238 and this shows a sharp incline. About 50 per cent of drug related deaths happened due to Heroin substitute methadone in Scotland.
These reports reflect a reduced life expectancy of addicts who resorted to heroin in the 1980s.
Heroine addicts are prescribed methadone to get off Heroine. But Methadone has been the reason for several deaths.
An IDC News report has revealed that Samsung, Intel, and Telefonica have invested in San Francisco-based startup Expect Labs which specializes in speech analysis. The startup, headed by CEO Timothy Tuttle, currently has 12 employees; and has already received $2.4 million in funding from existing investors, which include Google, Greylock Partners, and Bessemer Ventures, among others.
