Sarkozy stands against strikers

Recently, the riot police was ordered to remove the protestors from the refineries in the region of France as the filling stations have been running out of fuel and supplies to Paris were shut.

While close to several hundred forecourts were out of supplies, the Union of Independent Oil Importers also said that it had to close to supplies of fuel to Paris as well.

It is to be mentioned here that the disruption as caused after close to 12 refineries in the region faced strike from the workers on the issue of raising the pension age limit by two years.

For the record, the French government wants to increase the legal retirement age from 60 to 62 and full pension age from 65 to 67 with a view to cut expenses but the move has attracted a lot of initial criticism.

It is expected that the cou8ntry will see more protests in items to come and it may not hit a dead-end on this problem in the short-run at least.
The recently caused problems also extended to the Orly terminal as it was shut down after the strike.
