Flybe, KLM Deal Render City to Lose Air Route to Major Airport

U. K. domestic airline Flybe and French airline, Air France-KLM on Tuesday, revealed to have undergone a codeshare deal.

However, the deal seemed to have disappointed the Southampton Airport, as now the long standing link between it and the France's main airport, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) will be shut down under the agreement between the two air giants.

The two airlines have agreed on an extensive "codeshare arrangement", which sees each market the other's routes and allow customers to book seamlessly across the two networks with one click of a mouse.

With the deal in effect, Flybe passengers can fly to five other routes between the U. K. and France, along with seven new domestic French routes and 11 international routes. However, Flybe flights flying to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport will now reach to Air France hub.

And Air France codeshare customers will now have access to 45 additional routes from France to the U. K., along with links via Birmingham, Manchester and Southampton on a further 17 U. K. domestic routes.

Moreover, from October Flybe is revealed to switch its CDG service, which operates only once or twice every day, to Paris Orly, the French regional airport and it is increasing its flight service to three in a day.
