France ATC Staff to Go on Strike

The air traffic controllers in France are going to stage a strike, which will commence on Tuesday night. The strike will disturb the flight schedules, bothering the travelers.

The civil aviation authority in France said that it has directed the cancellation of more than 20% flights schedules on Tuesday and further on Wednesday, at Charles de Gaulle airport.

In addition, nearly 50% of the flights from Orly airport have been cancelled.

According to the workers union, the strike will get over on Thursday.

The traffic controlling unit is responsible for the effective coordination in flight schedules as well as the operations of the flights.

The strike has added to the worries of the authorities, as there will be hardly any staff operating the flights at ATC.

Air France explained that long-haul flights will remain operational on Wednesday at Charles de Gaulle, as scheduled earlier. It added that the short-haul and medium-haul flights will be operated from Orly.
