TomTom offers live GPS service

TomTom has announced the launch of new live GPS devices which will be based on SIM cards. The device will be updates every two minutes to show traffic updates.

The device will show breakdowns as well as accidents and also plan routes around potential jams. The majority of the data for the service will be provided by AA.

The whole lineup of the devices from the company will have `LIVE' features. TomTom will initially offer a year's free subscription of LIVE only on TomTom GO LIVE 1000 and TomTom GO LIVE 1050 World.

The service is also available for PC users who do not own GPS devices. They can user the service on the PC to plan the trip before the trip. The service is available in New Zealand before its launch in for customers in Australia.

The company has also announced that it has already recorded voice directions of Ben Harper, the winner of `Voice of New Zealand' and will be available for download before Chirstmas.
