FTC Strike Leads to Flight Cancellations

The massive strike staged by the air traffic controllers at Air France has forced the carrier to cancel most of the important flights on Tuesday.

The Civil Aviation Authority directed the carrier to postpone or cancel either of the flights scheduled from Orly airport, one out of five flights at Charles de Gaulle and one flight from the southern region of the nation.

However, the airlines said that it will make sure that the strike doesn't affect long-distance flights.

The officials said yesterday that nearly 20% of the flights will be cancelled during the day at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport while 50% will be cancelled at Orly airport.

The strike that kicked off on Tuesday went on to become a massive protest by the end of the day,

The strike has been pulling out as the controllers want to showcase their opposition to the proposed unification of Air France with European system.

They are of the view that the move will come at the cost of abandoning the French civil service rights of the workers.

CGT is the biggest union in the nation. It said that the strike will bring out numerous effects on the common people.
