Combined Efforts of French and UK Police Expose Human Trafficking Ring

A human trafficking ring has been exposed by the French and British police, who were carrying out illegal activities by exploiting hundreds of migrants to the UK. 18 suspected traffickers have been arrested by the French police and the British police caught eight such people.

They used to smuggle hundreds of Albanians and Sri Lankans visitors to the UK, by charging them between £1,500 and £4,000 a person.

The police officials of the two countries marked victory today by raiding and pinning down the culprits in Kent and France. The arrest is an outcome of the combined efforts of UK and France, as told by Damian Green, the Immigration Minister. He further added that it's their duty to provide security to the visitors of their country and to prevent illegal activities like smuggling.

He said, "That is why I am committed to working with my French counterpart to continue to improve security, and why we will continue with our successful summer operations against illegal immigration".

The operation was carried out by the Joint Intelligence Unit in Folkestone, which comprises the UKBA, Soca, Kent police, the French border police and the French anti-illegal immigration agency.

The two countries signed the deal to handle the growing number of migrants by making the rules strict. As per the deal, an amount of £15m was provided by the UK Government to restrict the migrants. The deal was made at the G-8 summit between Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy.
