BGR Energy Systems Limited, Turnkey engineering contracting firm, yesterday, signed two joint enterprise accords with Japan's Hitachi Limited and its German subsidiary, Hitachi Power Europe, GmbH, in order to set up boiler and turbine production house facilities in Tamil Nadu with an estimated amount to be spent, that is, somewhere around Rs. 4,400 Crore.
In this joint enterprise, BGR would hold 76% stake and Hitachi would own the remaining stake of 26%, which will craft and manufacture supercritical steam turbines and generators built for power plants.
Another joint enterprise accord between BGR Boilers and Hitachi Power Europe will have stakes in a ratio 70-30%.
BGR's Chennai based business comprises supply of systems and equipment and turnkey engineering project for the power, and oil and gas industries.
BGR is the nation's biggest executer of balance plant contracts that provide all plants, which does not include boiler, turbine and generator for power generation projects.
In addition to that, it is a leading engineering, procurement and construction contractor that covers design or crafting, engineering and provide all equipments that are tailor-made, so as to meet with the requirements of customers that they put forward and also civil works.
The plant would generate employment for no less than 2100 people and produce five units for each year in the 660-1,000 MW range.
