Traffic on U.S. Airlines surges 2.1% in July

The major U. S. airlines have posted higher traffic in the month of July with the improvement in the travel demand.

The traffic on United Airlines has increased by 2.1 percent in July due to recovery in the airline industry.

Besides North America, where traffic has declined by 4.2 percent, all other regions saw improvement.

The number of passengers in Latin America has increased the highest, with 13.5 percent growth of traffic in July as compared to the previous year.

There was small increase of just 0.1 percent in mainline traffic, whereas regional traffic climbed 16.7 percent.

The world's largest carrier, Delta Air Lines revealed the traffic increase of 0.5 percent in the month of July as compared to previous year figures; it reduces its capacity by 0.3 percent.

With the capacity increase of 3.1 percent, the traffic at American Airlines increased by 2.7 percent.

The airline industry is expected to remain under profitable condition till the fuel prices remained around $80 per barrel.

US Airways President, Scott Kirby said, "This improvement was largely driven by continued year-over-year strength in business demand and yield."
