Venezuelan Drug-Trafficker Captured by Colombian Police

'The Arabe', has finally been caught by the Colombian police against whom an extradition order had been issued by the United States. He was one among the names of the world's most wanted drug traffickers and he had been listed in the US extradition list following a direct request of the White House.

This Venezuelan drug-trafficker, Walid Mackled was captured by the police in a joint operation with the U. S. Drug Enforcement Agency in Cucuta, capital of Norte de Santander department in northeast Colombia.

Mackled had been charged for drug trafficking and murder, and a statement too had been released by the United States on Aug. 17.

The statement read that Mackled was "responsible for the murder of Colombian drug-trafficker Wilber Varela, alias 'Jabon.' He is also accused of killing Venezuelan journalist and lawyer Orel Zambrano".

Oscar Naranjo, Colombia's police Director remarked that Mackled had made his fortune by allying with the FARC, Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. This alliance made him to deliver more than 10 tons of cocaine monthly to the United States and Europe and helped him earn wealth.

In the year 2008, 400 kilograms of cocaine had been found on Makled's ranch in Venezuela's northern Carabobo state and he was also in the wanted list for the murder of a journalist and a veterinarian.
