Restructuring pushes out BNP Paribas' Claude Haberer

bnp-paribasClaude Haberer, who worked in the French bank before it got restructured as the head of key clients in Asia, is leaving his post and quitting.

Claude had been involved with the bank for the last three decades and almost 50 per cent of his time was spent in looking after the Asian market.

The announcement was made just three days after the company got its Asian operations restructured. The wealth management business has been completely overhauled. This was done with the idea to push for growth in the major markets of China and India. As West remains more and more uncertain, the company is betting big time on the Asian markets.

Talking about the same, Catherine Tillotson, a partner at wealth management consultancy Scorpio Partnership said that the Asian markets are not debt-ridden and that is what is working to their advantage. Moreover, there is a phase of wealth-creation and BNP Paribas wants to be a part of it.

BNP has got its key Asian markets in the following order: Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India and Singapore. Now each nation will have a separate head.
