Music Unlimited - Sony on Cloud Nine

Sony announced the expansion of its cloud-based digital “Music Unlimited Service Powered by Qriocity” in France, Germany, Spain and Italy after its successful launch in United States, UK and Ireland in December.

Unlike streaming devices that download on to a computer, cloud-based services enable users to store all their music on a “cloud” or remote server that also acts as a safe locker from where they can access countless tracks on a range of wireless Sony devices.

The listeners have to go for two kinds of subscription. One is the Basic service and the other one is the premium subscription. For a basic service, the listeners have to pay 3.99 euros per month where as 9.99 euro will be charged for a premium subscription.

The premium subscription will allow the listeners to access to each and every song on demand with playlist facility.

However, Sony's Qriocity has to face a tough completion from the market in this venture. The main rivals of the firm may be Spotify, Pandora, Last. fm, Groove Shark and We7 who all provide popular music for free and in paid version as well.

Sony has high hopes for Music Unlimited saying that it will rival Apple's market-leader iTunes. They hope to target the expanding new market in the auto industry.
