Rep.Gabrielle Giffords had been shifted from a hospital at Houston to a rehabilitation institution close to the hospital last evening, following the improvement of her condition from critical to good. It is yet another milestone in the path of her recovery.
Giffords spent last week in the neuro-intensive care unit of the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center after having arrived at Houston from Tucson last Friday. Her long-term recovery will resume at the TIRR Memorial Hermann rehabilitation institution.
The Arizona Democrat had got shot in the head with a bullet at a nearby range during the happening of a constituent event held on 8th January in Tucson. The shooting that occurred took the lives of 6 people and rendered a dozen others injured.
According to lead neurosurgeon, Dong Kim, of the hospital, since Giffords' arrival at the hospital on Friday, a daily betterment has been observed in her neurological situation, and that she was recovering at lightning speed when it came to brain injuries recovery.
The liquid that generally accumulates in the brain after severe head injuries, had been largely drained from Giffords brain by Monday, said Kim.
