With increased monitoring of radiation levels along the west coast, US government agencies are all geared up to tackle the Radiation outbreak triggered by Fukushima Daiichi nuclear-power plant in Japan. Agency officials said that although the Government has ensured all precautionary measures, still it’s not anticipating any significant amount of radiation in US shores from Japan.
On Thursday The Environmental Protection Agency informed that radiation level is being monitored in around 100 nationwide sites and has installed seven additional radiation monitoring device in Guam, Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands to keep a constant check on the radiation level over the Pacific
Meanwhile Japan’s desperation to win the battle against radiation leakage has intensified with the use of water cannons, see-water dropping through helicopter to cool off the reactors.
With news of the radiation plume reaching California has created a sense of controlled panic among its citizen. California’s top public health official Mr. Backer said that there is no reason to panic as the radiation particles from the plume will melt away long before reaching California and does not impose any health related threat to the states along the West Coast. Backer was referring to the detailed chart of potential travel path of the radiation plume which was created by a United Nation Agency and later published by The New York Times. He also said that chart may not be authentic as the radiation plume will dissolve long before it reaches the west coast shores.
