Chiropractor Attends National Fitness Conference

Participating in the 19th annual Symposium on Natural Fitness and Sports conducted 4th and 5th March in Columbus, Ohio, was Dr. Anthony J. DeLuca of Old Bridge among a group of chiropractors from across the world.

The Symposium is conducted on an annual basis along with the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival, with the Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science of the International Chiropractors Association sponsoring the event.

A presentation by Schwarzenegger at the event, highlighted the role of chiropractors in health care reform, including sharing his thoughts on the importance of chiropractic care and its ability to help people on many levels.

Schwarzenegger’s commitment to public service and efforts to promote health and fitness was recognized and honoured with an American Eagle Award following his presentation,

A 1987 graduate of Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C., DeLuca earned a postgraduate credential as a certified chiropractic sports physician (CCSP) in 1998 from New York Chiropractic College’s CCSP programme.

In practice for over 23 years, he operates DeLuca Family Chiropractic in Old Bridge, including having also been a part of the medical team for numerous sporting events, such as, the Professional Bowling Association tournaments, the Garden State Games and the Race for the Cure. He was also the 2009 and 2010 team doctor for the World Figure Skating Champions in Tokyo, Los Angeles and Torino, Italy.

Chiropractic has come a long way since when the main focus was on ‘vertebral subluxation’ or spinal manipulation.

Chiropractors learn far more gross anatomy and as much physiology as most health professions. Working in conjunction with other health professions, chiropractors often expand their treatments to include massage, physical therapy, dietary and lifestyle advice and some medicines.

Their general focus is on musculoskeletal conditions, though it is not limited to these conditions.
