Ferrari to Launch its First Family Car

Fiat’s most profitable unit, Ferrari will be launching next month its first family car, which will cost around $359,000. Ferrari will start with the delivery of its first family car, the four-seat FF. The sports-car maker’s earnings before interest and taxes rose 23% last year to 302 million Euros on revenue of 1.92 billion Euros.

Fiat SpA Chief Executive Officer, Sergio Marchionne’s evaluation of Ferrari is 2 billion Euros, more than that of analysts and 63% of Fiat’s entire market value of 8 billion Euros. In addition to Fiat brand cars, the company owns a
30% stake in Chrysler Group LLC, as well as the Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands.

Last year, before the spinoff of Fiats industrial businesses, it has assumed about 500 million of a total of 2.4 billion Euros in debt while its truck and tractor unit covered 1.9 billion Euros. This year, it is believed that the capital expenditure is expected to increase substantially to as much as 4.5 billion Euros.

According to Jochen Gehrke, a Deutsche Bank AG analyst, “Ferrari is a trophy asset inside Fiat”, he further said that “Given the profitability it generates, an IPO would attract huge attention.”
