Get Ready for Relay For Life

Cancer survivors and everyone who has directly or indirectly battled this terrible disease have an appointment in May. No matter what the weather forecast says. With rain or sunshine, from 10 a. m. May 14 to 10 a. m. May 15 at Royal Oak Middle School, 709 N. Washington Ave., the Relay for Life will offer an opportunity for congregate, remembering ones lost to cancer, celebrating cancer survivors and fighting back against cancer. The event is organized by the American Cancer Society.

The organization is widely known by its work of supporting victims of the illness, providing them from medical resources to cosmetic tips to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy.

According to many participants, Relay for Life is a life-changing experience and has a special meaning for many cancer survivors and their relatives, who came along their daily battle against the disease.

More than 300 participants and 20 teams are expected to take part in the event, full of special activities and ceremonies. A silent auction will also entertain the participants and raise funds, while on Saturday evening the luminaria ceremony will line the track and surely move the participants. The small candlelit bags are yearly decorated with the names of cancer patients.
