Reports claimed that the Southwest Airlines plan to become a mega-size low cost airline by purchasing AirTran on Monday.

Travellers shouldn't be affected by it, the Justice Department said last week in approving the deal, the third merger of big U. S. airlines in three years. “It is not likely to substantially lessen competition and will enable the combined airlines to serve new routes that neither flew before”, the department said.

The department has also reported that the Southwest and AirTran have been in a competition with other airlines such as Delta and American. So the price of the tickets might go down.

According to the market experts, this news might become true in the near future. However, the observers are not too sure about this report. On the other hand some thinks that the fare can rise because the company will not be facing any competition after acquiring the airliner.

The company is not focusing on flying to more than 100 cities after the merge. There are questions regarding the name of the company and the name of this big airline network after the merging.

AirTran Spokesman, Christopher White said that nothing will be changing for the travellers. They will not face any hassles in their travelling after this deal.
