The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario in its report named as Registering Success, has applauded the Ontario authorities for their efforts to improve the doctor-patient ratio in Canada while referred to its compiled data which has evidenced a noticeable rise in number of licensed physicians across the region.
The annual registration report of the college has hinted that approximately, 3,708 licenses were issued during the 2010; a significant difference as compared to the 3,638 for 2009. The President, Dr. Lynne Thurling, has expressed enthusiasm about the huge new doctor registrations along with the maintained college high standards.
"That we've been able to register this many new doctors and a big chunk of them are trained elsewhere so that we are seen as being fair and welcoming of all kinds of different cultural groups provided that our standards are met, I think we're really pleased about that", she added.
Meanwhile, the President of the Canadian Medical Association has stated that similar changes are taking place across the country and praised the decision to raise the number of registered doctors whereas the Health Minister, Deb Matthews, has stressed to delay the patient waiting times along with the better access to primary care.
