Carlos Ghosn - Nissan CEO Expects to Regain Momentum by October

On Thursday, Nissan Motor Company reported they experienced a 7.2% rise in quarterly operating profits and claimed that their global product distribution would return to normal at least one month earlier despite a the disruption they had due to the March 11 earthquake in Japan.

Toyota also announced on Wednesday that their production would start to become more normal in June, approximately two months earlier than they originally expected to see such an improvement.

CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn said the availability of electricity from the nuclear power plants was a concern. “I think the picture of our own plants is now stabilized, but the picture coming from the suppliers is still being worked on”, he said.

Mr. Ghosn stressed to those he interviewed that Nissan’s momentum in sales before the quake was one of the strongest in the industry, and he said that he expected to get a hold of that same momentum in October when supplies to build cars was no longer an issue.
