The Outbreak of E.coli Finally Ended

It has been reported by the health authorities of Germany that the outbreak of E. coli in the country has ended. The outbreak of E. coli took lives of about 50 people in the country. Moreover, the strains of the bacteria have impacted many lives in Europe and North America as well.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported that the last case of E. coli was reported three weeks ago. The RKI issued a statement saying, “As the RKI has not had any new infections linked to this outbreak reported since then, the RKI considers the outbreak to be over”.

It has been reported that although the outbreak of E. coli has ended, the surveillance for the bacteria will be continued. It has been reported that the outbreak of the bacteria was first discovered in the month of May.

However, the head of the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, Gennady Onishchenko, has raised doubts over Germany’s statement of bacteria being ‘completely eradicated’.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the European Food Safety Agency has imposed a temporary ban over the import of seeds and beans from Egypt. The ban was followed by another ban over the seeds being imported to Germany and then distributed to a number of countries.
