Surrey Mayor Discharged From Hospital

Dianne Watts - Mayor Surrey has been discharged from the Peace Arch Hospital and will continue to recover at home. She has been advised bed rest for a while.

Watts was admitted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops on July 23, after she suffered an injury due to fall from horse's back. She was enjoying vacation with her family in Kamloops when the incident happened. She suffered two fractured vertebrae and was immediately rushed to the local hospital. Watts was treated for four days at Royal Inland and later shifted to Peace Arch Hospital for recovery.

The details of her injury were not made public but according to a spokesman, Watts is quiet fine and her limbs are quiet showing a normal functioning. Limbs functioning disorders are major concerns in a spinal injury. Fortunately no signs of paralysis or permanent nerve damage were noticed as the result of the fracture.

Before leaving the hospital, the mayor thanked all the personals, in both the hospitals who were involved in her treatment. She also thanked for the support of residents of Surrey and Canada who have sent her well wishes.

No details have been released for her full recovery. It is speculated that it may take a few months for her to fully recover.
