Younger Sisters Prone To Teenage Pregnancy, If Elder Is Teen Mom

According to a recent study, teenage pregnancy has been termed contagious.

Researchers in UK and Norway claimed that when an older sister becomes a teenage mom, the younger sister is also likely to get pregnant in her younger age. The Researchers call it, "peer effect". Peer effect raises the chance of younger sister to become pregnant by 40%, stated Bristol University researchers.

The study of more than 42,000 Norwegian teenage girls suggested that they posed a high probability of becoming pregnant in teenage if their elder sisters did so. This probability increased if the family was from poor background, on the other hand being educated at a higher level reduced the effect.

The sample did not classify the subjects on various demography aspects. The research is a mixture of various demography aspects. For an in depth result analysis, studies have to conducts on different aspects such as economy levels, opportunity levels and personal aspects such as family conditions.

The study suggests that more policies need to formulate to aim directly at the teenage pregnancies and more programs need to be developed to make people aware the cons of teenage pregnancies.

Family planning Association said that the results could be quiet different in United Kingdoms.
