2011 Tour de North to Start from FSJ

Tour de North got started in year 2000 and since then, a big population each year turns up to participate in this biking journey.

This year also two dozen riders hit the road to participate in this 800 km biking, which for the first time has been scheduled to travel from north to south. The biking will make a start from Fort St. John and bikers have to make up to Williams Lake in seven days, as fixed by 2011 Tour de North.

According to the plans, the riders will be first trekking from Fort St. John to Dawson Creek, from there they have to move their bikes to Chetwynd and then into the Pine Pass toward Prince George and finally their destination of Williams Lake.

Since months, the 24 riders are getting trained for the ride. Their first big climb will be the Taylor Hill, which according to RCMP Inspector Mr. Patrick Egan, needs a lot of hard work and training to cover the route. He also added that the entire route is approx 800 kms and thus initial training trains the bikers to cover at least 200 kms in a single week to cover the whole route on time.

Inspector Egan then highlighted the big financial help that this ride raises every year. As per his calculations, the ride approx raises around $200 000, which is given for juvenile cancer research and to support Camp Goodtimes, which is basically a medically equipped camp that treats young cancer patients in BC.
