Sir Stuart Stands against 50p Cut in Tax

The former executive Chairman of Marks and Spencer, Sir Stuart Rose, has expressed his distress over the proposed cut in tax to the rich people. The debate over 50p tax rate has been haunting for long. CBI employer’s organization is also echoing the plea of Sir rose.

Sir Stuart’s comments were published in the leading newspaper where he said, “…at the moment, politically, it is the wrong thing to do if at the same time the government is not offering a quid pro quo for lower taxpayers”.

He is of the opinion that the country should be helped in its financial position by paying more taxes. By saying so, he volunteered himself for paying more taxes. He believes that by relieving the rich from the 50p tax, the government is making its image sound among the riches. He called this step of government as a gimmick.

Following the comments by Sir Stuart, Danny Alexander, Treasury Chief Secretary, proposed that a person with minimum wages should not be made to pay taxes. The plea by Sir Stuart is not being supported by many people but this is not dithering him from moving ahead with his aims.
