Flu Shots Costing Companies Hell Lot of Money

If anyone is under the impression that flu shots have mere medical significance then its worth knowing that a large amount of economic cost gets eloped due to rapid use of flu jabs. While medical experts have long been recommending flu vaccines as the best possible mean through which seasonal infections can be averted, it has been recently come into knowledge that even companies are coming forward to extend their help to motivate their employees to get vaccinated.

If given a thought to the fact that employers are offering special benefits for those who are getting themselves vaccinated within time, it has been confirmed that companies are among the major sufferers that bear the brunt of flu infections. With a significant proportion of the work strength on bench, companies are at the mercy of uncertainty.

If reports are to be believed, during last year’s flu season, employees could not work for nearly 100 million work days, which has escalated cost to as high as $7 billion for them as they were not entitled to paid leaves.

Deciphering the level of consequences, it has been confirmed that few companies, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna, would cover the cost being incurred due to flu jabs.

With the flu season on its way, words of cautions have been sent for those who are in dire need of the same.
