Premature Babies Have More Chances to Develop Autism, Says Study

The premature babies are already known to suffer a number of health complications as well as cognitive delays. In a latest study carried out by experts in the United States that had consumed more than two decades, has attempted to explore the association between autism and low birth weight. Consequently, the research has marked premature low weight babies’ for having around five times more possibilities to develop autism as compared to normal counterparts.

While explaining the study findings, the lead study author, Jennifer Pinto-Martin, who also serves as the Director of the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Research and Epidemiology at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing, said: "If there is suspicion of autism or a positive screening test for ASD, parents should seek an evaluation for an ASD”.

In addition to this, the expert has also insisted parents to avail proper professional assistance for their children, in case they observe any symptom of autism spectrum disorder and notified that early intrusion can play a significant role to yield better results for suffering child. Further, she claimed that on time assistance may stimulate these kids to improve their performance at home as well as in school.

The autism is a major health condition that indicates a series of disorders where the sufferer is likely to experience complications during social interactions, tendency to repeat actions followed by deep-rooted silence. The experts claim that it is not a common condition and mainly tends to affect boys.
