National Infection Control Week Calls for Self Check

In a bid to rein in the infection rate, National Infection Control Week would be celebrated from October 17 to 21. There is no denial that maintaining personal hygiene is the best available option to get rid of range of health concerns, but will that be all? Perhaps no and that’s why a complete week has been dedicated for the same to share the concerns attached.

There is no second thought that people at times do fall victim to range of infections, including colds, flu or stomach bugs, but a lot depends on how hygiene would be maintained to avert the risk.

On the same lines, health experts are recommending people to get themselves vaccinated in the first place, while lining out ways and means to keep the risk at a safe distance.

Among all, washing hands with soap and warm water has been recommended by experts from a very long time, but still there are people who find it difficult to even do this.

Medical experts are of the view that in case somebody gets infected with flu or any other illness; they should maintain a safe distance from others. Even using handkerchief while sneezing and coughing is being recommended.

Moreover, voices have been heard during outbreaks stating that one should follow the instructions ardently so that the risks attached are being kept within safe limits.

“If you are working at, living in or visiting a long-term care home, be sure to wash your hands well, stay home if you’re sick, cover your cough and update your vaccines”, said Louise Anello, Manager of the Communicable Disease Control Program at the Health Unit, while asserting that one must take every single measure possible to ensure that infections are being rein in.
