The biggest hindrance for a doctor, in providing effective treatment to patients, is the communication barrier. It has been found that the doctors who come from other nations find it difficult to communicate with the patients about their treatment and ailment.

Recently, a meeting was held at the House of Lords where the members concerned recommended bringing a balance between the recruitment of the doctors and patients safety. It has come to light that many doctors from abroad enter the European territory with fake degrees.

Moreover, these doctors find it difficult to adjust with the rules of Europe. Therefore, they are seeking a change in the process of recruiting overseas doctors. It is not for the first time that the oversea doctors have become a subject of discussion. For the past many years, the political leaders and health experts have been raising concern over the safety of patients, which is often put in danger by the treatment provided by the overseas doctors.

An investigation conducted into the working of overseas doctors has found that Dr. Ubani, an overseas doctor working in Europe, had poor records and was even denied from providing health services to Leeds. Moreover, in one of the incidents he was found guilty of causing death of his patient.

Following the incident, the European Commission called for a review of the current procedure of recruiting doctors. It has been informed that by the end of this year, a new recruitment procedure would be announced.

It is expected that the government might tighten up the rules which will be implemented next year. For better results, the foreign doctors are being tested over their oratory skills so that the percentage of doctors who find it difficult to communicate with patients could be gauged.
