Lloyds Notified Legislative Pre-Tax Failure of £3.86bn

The Acting Chief Executive and Finance Director of Lloyds, Tim Tookey has notified that the lender is not likely to achieve its income targets for 2014 as the base interest rates have managed to grab a lower position for a long time, as compared to anticipated time.

However, Tim Tookey has strictly opposed to make any statement on the medical condition of its Chief Executive Antonio Horta-Osorio. During last week, the bank notified bad health of its officer and said that because of extreme fatigue, doctors have directed him to take a long leave, probably for six weeks.

Besides this, the acting CEO has also opposed to answer any question seeking explanation about possibilities that can enable him to continue serving as CEO, mainly if Mr. Horta-Osorio will not be able to join back due to bad health, probably till the end of this year.

In addition, the Lloyds authorities have notified a legislative pre-tax failure of £3.86bn, for nine months to the end of September, a significant deviation as compared to a small profit of slightly less than £2bn for the corresponding period in 2010.

On the other hand, experts have marked the fluctuation as a clear outcome of an expensive provision against payment protection insurance claims that is believed to be worth around £3.2bn. "Let's make no bones about it. Lloyds' revenues are in structural decline due to a combination of rising funding costs and a shrinking balance sheet", added an analyst at Evolution Securities, Ian Gordon, while commenting on the existing market scenario.

Simultaneously, Ian Gordon insisted that the regular tumble in the income of Lloyds cannot be observed as a surprise. The bank has claimed to spend generously in order to expand its new businesses with the investment of £90m no further this year.
