It has been revealed in a recent report that the summer sales of the brand Marks and Spencer's has seen a fall for the first time in two years. They reported a fall of 8%. The reason for the same has been given to be the uncertain weather in India during September and October. This has caused people to postpone buying winter wear and autumn clothes.

The store is of the view that they shall launch a tie up with X- Factor, and try their best to balance their books by the time Christmas is here.

Marc Bolland, the Chief Executive has revealed that they had tried their best to up sales, with slashing prices because it would give people respite in the times here household costs are being clutched.

This new strategy came even though the firm is already facing commodity costs, when it comes to clothing in particular.

It was revealed that the group had made a profit of £348.6millionfrom the October to April period last year. It was added that even though the profits are not extremely high right now, the firm has launched 900 new ventures and promotional offers are on the rise as well.

The chain has as many as 700 stores, and is doing its best in keeping up with the new demands of the market and introducing offers to keep a smart hook onto the clients.

"I'm not surprised they cut the gross margin guidance given the promotional environment", revealed David Jeary, analyst from Investec securities. "That slight negative however is offset by the operating cost guidance, which I think given the current environment will be taken positively", he added.

In the time to come, better results are expected due to excellent strategies.
