Stress On Quality of Gifts Than Quantity This Christmas

‘What is the use of giving a gift if it is not liked by the other person’ seems to be the question of Choice, a consumer watchdog.

From their survey, they have found that on Christmas people tends to focus on quantity than on quality, which later results those quantity gifts to either put in store house or sent back.

Choice said they surveyed 1500 Australians this month as king them about Christmas gifts. It was revealed 21% have found last year Christmas gifts to be not even worth seeing as they were poor in quality.

Not only this, 31% of them said they have kept their last year unwanted Christmas gifts in their store house and would not like to have a re-look on them.

Some of the gifts, which were termed as big ‘no’, were popcorn makers, electric peppercorn mills and some out of the box gift items, like Christmas-themed soap.

In order to let know people about value of quality Christmas gifts, Choice made a Christmas Tree of Junk, which was placed in Martin Place in Sydney. This tree had number of unwanted gifts and signified about useless gifts that have been passed on last Christmas.

Choice said they have also found a rare concept to be transforming into a regular event. It was ‘pass the unwanted gift parcel’. Economy is already passing from crisis and in that phase they do not mind passing on rejected gifts.

There are other people as well who do not mind to opt for ‘pool in strategy’. This strategy is majorly adopted by elderly people where they do not keep rejected gifts in storage and also do not return them or pass on.

They simply take the gift to the shop from where it has been bought and look for something, which excites them and buy it by putting is some extra money, if required. It is good idea but hardly adored by youngsters who discard unwanted gifts.
