There is possibility that ADHD patients would soon be offered with new treatment as the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia researchers have found some changes in the genes of children suffering from ADHD.

The journal Nature Genetics has recently published a research, wherein it was revealed that patients would be able to get benefit from the new treatment whose brain signaling pathways have been affected by alterations in genes.

The study leader Dr. Hakon Hakonarson said they reached to above conclusion through their compare analysis in which they took 1,000 ADHD children and 4,100 normal children. They did whole-genome analyses of all the students and did comparison with normal students.

In this analysis, they found that there might be thousands of genes which are responsible for the risk of ADHD but they have found gene family which is responsible to make 10% of children as ADHD kids. This is not a small thing as they are able to know the cause of at least 10% kids and this is robust finding.

Alteration in brain signaling pathways is the reason for making those 10% children ADHD. Researchers were of the view that they would now be able to develop a treatment for those kids as now they have got the reason of their ADHD problem.

Dr. Hakon said, “Members of the GMR gene family, along with genes they interact with, affect nerve transmission, the formation of neurons, and interconnections in the brain, so the fact that children with ADHD are more likely to have alterations”.

Experts have welcomed the findings and have affirmed that earlier, they were not even sure of one reason which might have caused ADHD. But now, they would not only be able to design novel treatments for them but would also search for other linked methods which could give incite to new gene variants.
