There seems to be tough time ahead of many women who have got silicone breast implants made by a French company as there are reports that it may cause cancer. Though the fears are being denied, there are significant concerns seen among those who have actually got the implants supplied by Poly Implant Prothese (PIP).

There is no decision yet taken to remove the PIP implants or not. However, there is another report from the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency that there is nothing to panic and denied any link between the incidence of cancer and the implants. There have been discussions done with relevant UK professional bodies for breast surgery and surgical oncology by the MHRA to ensure that there is no significant link between the two.

"The MHRA's current advice to women with any type of breast implant continues to be that women who are concerned about their breasts or think that their implants may have ruptured, should seek clinical advice from their implanting surgeon”, said the agency, which is told to have worked with the cancer registry also to clear all doubts.

Even assurance has come from the British Association for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) that they have not found any concrete link between PIP breast implants and cancer risk. It’s being said that the precautionary statement from French medical authorities must not be treated as any danger and there is need for women to be careful.

There have been reports that these implants have failure rate, and that’s why there is so much fear among women in the same context. Over the last 12 years, there have been over 300,000 implants being sold and perhaps, that’s why the issue is being discussed so much.

Moreover, the French government is taking all necessary steps in the same context.
