Astronomers Come Across 2 Earth-Like Planets

Harvard University astronomers revealed that they have come across two new planets, Kepler-20e and 20f which are the size of earth. It circles around its parent star for liquid water so it could exist.

Only problem is that they are too hot, but astronomer David Charbonneau said they are determined to fine a planet which ahs right amount of heat and water and is perfect for human survival. Kepler is a big family like earth has. It has three gas-giant siblings like Saturn and Jupiter.

It is similar to earth but its solar system is not similar to known solar system as in earth, Venus and mars are more close to each other and Jupiter and Saturn remains distant, but in their family each planet is segregated.

It was known that rocky planets and gas giants mix up very well, but it is only after they saw them they realized it was true, said Charbonneau. Presence of water has led astronomers to think that Kepler-20f would have been habitable in the past.

Astronomer Linda Elkins-Tanton from the Carnegie Institute in Washington told that Kepler is located in the constellation Lyra which is 1, 000 light-years away. One of the planets is similar to the size of earth while another planet is smaller than Venus.

Till date these are two smallest planets which have been found outside the solar system. This is great success as now astronomers feel that there would be earth like planets and one fine day they would be able to find them.

Astronomers said they know the journey is tough but they were found to be celebrating this success. It is not a small thing they have found such small planets outside solar system, said Tanton. Astronomer from Yale, Debra Fischer affirmed, "This technological feat is incredibly important because it means that the detection of Earth-size planets at larger distances is technically possible”.
