Health Investigator Alarmed on CMC

As per recent reports, it has been revealed that an ex-Queensland medical investigator has shared her concerns over the malpractice going on at the hospital, claiming that carrying out a proper investigation in this regard is really dicey as it will be initializing a conflict of interests.

Joanne Barber used to work as senior investigator at the ex-Medical Board of Queensland and Queensland Health’s ethical standards unit until 2010.

The Brisbane resident worked along with Queensland Police as well as a fraud investigator with WorkCover, and she is now on a sick leave from his services at the Queensland Health.

Ms. Barber has raised concerns regarding the malpractice, doctors divulging tantrums in operations as well as a junior doctor who was not able to carry out a suture following a probe done at the cardio thoracic unit of Townsville during November 2007.

She submitted her reports to the Health Quality and Complaints Commission and the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC), and has further claimed that they did not act.

Earlier during the week, Ms Barber made an attempt of raising concerns again in front of the CMC, but she soon realized that she will be forced to deal with the same individual who showed no interest in the issue earlier when the case was presented before him in 2007.

While expressing her opinion in this regard, along with mentioning what all consequences it can have in the time to follow, she informed AAP: “I thought 'oh my god this is a joke, this isn't for real'. I'm suggesting the CMC has played a part in this. I'm not saying it was deliberate, but I am complaining to the same person."How can they be independent when they are a part of it”.
