Feisty Mike in Asia for Freely Kickin’ the Butt

As per recent reports, it has been revealed that Mayor Bloomberg is keen on expanding his global war against tobacco with the help of an extra $220mn from his charity which aims at wiping out the vice of smoking all the way from China to Indonesia.

Along the same lines, the mayor made a declaration yesterday that the additional commitment of four years from Bloomberg Philanthropies. He was speaking at the 15th World Conference on Tobacco or Health which was organized in Singapore.

While expressing his opinion regarding the urgent need for curbing the rapidly and incessantly growing menace due to smoking, along with mentioning what all positives can be expected due to the inclusion of additional funding for combating the vice of smoking, the mayor claimed: “Tobacco kills every day, so we need to keep the fight moving forward and keep the momentum going. It is a scourge all over the world, more so in the places where education isn't up to the standards that it is in the developed world”.

The latest drive aimed at stubbing out the butt will be apparently focused on five countries which, as per statistics, account for the prevalent share of tobacco users all over the planet: China, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh and Russia.

Michael Bloomberg, the New York Mayor, also pledged on spending in excess of $220 million worth of funding over the coming four years for the sake of discouraging the use of tobacco in developing nations, since it has come to light that he is seeking endorsement of strategies all over the world for the purpose of curbing the use of tobacco in his city.

The latest oath makes his total pledge to in excess of $600 million for the period of 2007 to 2016.
