Credit Suisse Chief Faces Pay Cut

Credit Suisse Chief Faces Pay Cut

It seems that the tough time has affected Credit Suisse Group badly, as it has been revealed that its Chief Executive Officer Brady Dougan has received half of his deemed salary this year. It's a clear indicator that the second-biggest Swiss bank is going through a tough time.

After the profits nosedived by almost 62% and the stock dipped by 41%, it was quite obvious that there is going to be cost-cutting measures in place, but it was not anticipated that the CEO would be among those facing the brunt. While Dougan got 12.8 million francs for 2010, this time he got 5.8 million Swiss francs.

It was in last year, that many of the senior members had to face salary cuts due to considerable drop in profits. Among all, Robert Shafir, head of asset management - department which handles investment banking and private banking operations, managed to get SFr8.5m ($9.3m) in 2011.

In 2010, cumulative salary for Credit Suisse's 16 group executive board members was SFr160.3m and it dropped to SFr70.3m for 13 group executive board members in 2011. This is clear evidence that the bank had to suffer a lot in the hands of poor earnings and the pain is experienced by board members too.
