As per recent reports, it has been revealed that a fresh drug has divulged highly promising results in terms of combating the deadly spread of the potentially terminal prostate cancer by “kittling” the tumors.
Though during the initial developmental stages, a flurry of expectations have been released by a team of researchers who have expressed hopes that it can be provided at the time of diagnosis for the sake of avoiding certain aggressive treatments.
The drug, dubbed KBU2046, is specially intended for disable proteins which are extremely effective in keeping a sense of activity and movement in prostate cancer cells.
In the meantime, it has been claimed that US scientists carried out assessments on mice that were earlier provided several transplants of highly violent human prostate cancer cells.
Over the duration of five weeks or so, the drug reserved the cell movements and also thwarted them from spreading to the lungs.
Cancer spread around the entire body, which is generally dubbed as metastasis, is particularly what tends to kill cancer patients. Also, it has been said that prostate cancer among humans most frequently targets the bones, but it may also spread to other parts of the body, including the liver, lungs and the brain.
Scientists, during the course of their study, discovered that KBU2046 was highly non-toxic for the health of human cells and it looked like they were having no major side effects.
While expressing his opinion in this regard, along with mentioning what all pros and cons it can result in the time to follow, the lead author of the study which was carried out by a team of researchers from the Northwestern University in Chicago, Professor Raymond Bergan, claimed: “This is an extremely promising new therapeutic that locks down aggressive prostate cancer cells so they don't move. The spread of prostate cancer is what kills men. Cancer cells have a switch that tells them to keep moving all the time. This drug turns it off”.
According to a new study, scientists have unraveled the mystery behind the sensation of itch. The scientists said that neurons that detect itch rely on a newly identified chemical that sends "I need to scratch" message to the brain. The study was conducted on mice.
