Mobile Application ‘Girls around Me’ Facing Troubles

Recently, a mobile application `Girls around Me' stirred controversies as it has been found that the users of the application stalk women and put their life at risk. It has been informed that application works by taking out data from social networking site FourSquare.

The application enables its users to view the Facebook profile of women and their profile pictures. Besides, their dating status is also revealed to the users of the applications. The application is a creation of i-Free.

The application has been blocked by the FourSquare as it was breaching the privacy policies of the social networking sites. It has come to light that the application used to inform users about the places where women have just checked in.

Because of the application, a number of women had to face tough time as they were being stalked. The maker of the application has said that soon they would be bringing changes in the privacy policies of the application so that women could be saved from stalkers.

Social networking giant Facebook has not yet commented upon the incident. Privacy of the social networking users have always been under threat. However, from time to time, the owners of the social networking sites have brought changes in the privacy policies to make sure that the users are safe on the site.

It is hoped that i-Free would soon bring changes in the policies of the application to make sure that privacy of others is not being put at stake. The application is no longer available in the app store. It would become available again, when the maker of it will prove that the application is save to use.
