Recent news proposes that the Sainsbury has been advertising that it has lowered the rates of its food products.

It has been unveiled that the advertisements launched by the supermarket giant claims that a family of four can be fed for a week in just fifty quid. The supermarket revealed images of three meals and stated that it will be enough to provide 28 breakfasts, 28 lunches and 28 dinners for a family of four.

However, the supermarket has been informally criticized severely over the advertisements launched.

The customers after preparing the meals, that were advertised, concluded that they required additional ingredients which would cost them more, and hence claims by Sainsbury were not true. Moreover, the meals were not suitable for children below the age of four.

The customers complained this issue to Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). After proper investigations into the probe, it was declared by ASA that a few of the attributes shown in the advertisement were misleading and not true.

However, Sainsbury opposed all the allegations and stated that the meals were prepared in a way that they were able to give 75% of the total calories needed by a person daily.

Sainsbury’s said: “We are surprised and disappointed the ASA has come to this judgment so fast”.
