A new study proposed that the restriction of industrial pollutants has led to significant effects that can be analyzed from the temperature difference in Atlantic Ocean waters.
Surprisingly, it has been notified that the pollution led to the cooling of the sea. It has been examined that when the industrial pollution was at a high increase over the Atlantic, the sea underneath was cool. However, as time passed and legislations were passed to clean the air off the pollutants, the sea started becoming warm.
Rather, in case of US, the phenomenon has been linked with the fueled hurricanes like Katrina. Much more to this, the temperature changes have even been termed responsible for the droughts in Africa and South America.
It has been revealed that the reasons behind the temperature changes which were first thought to be due to natural oscillations or variability produced, however, later on the main reason was termed out to be due to the pollutants.
Moreover, such studies which emphasized on the relationship between sea temperatures, hurricanes and droughts, were published earlier even. But this new study proposed that the emissions produced by these aerosols need to be brought into notice.
Nevertheless, this the very first time that an industrial pollutant has been shown to provide with significant results, as, it has been discovered that these emissions of aerosol capture the aerosol interactions with clouds.
It has been unveiled that due to this property of aerosols, clouds become brighter and long lasting, as a consequence, sunlight is reflected back up and hence, the underneath portion of the sea remains cool.
However, despite the benefits, nations will still not approve the usage of aerosols to reduce the effects of hurricanes and also cooling of the Atlantic.
