As per recent reports, it has been declared that the assessment regarding the new drug Zaltrap will be provided soon by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The drug manufactured by the Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Sanofi has been introduced as a treatment for patients suffering from colorectal cancer.

FDA has announced that it will be conducting six months prior to the evaluation of the drug. The agency administers this six-month analysis so as to acknowledge that the drug will do any good to the existing treatment or will it be able to provide a satisfactory treatment in cases where no therapy exists.

However, the company suggests that it wishes to launch the drug with a chemotherapy treatment for patients who have already undergone chemotherapy but of a different type before.

It has been unveiled that the company officials have stated that the drug, till now, has not been able to clear the last-stage trials. It has not been able to provide the patients with the desire results.

They said: “Patients who were treated with Zaltrap, the chemotherapy drug Taxotere and the steroid prednisone did not survive longer than patients treated with Taxotere, prednisone and a placebo”.

However, the FDA will be assisting with the final results regarding the drug by August 4.
