It has been reported that the neglected phone booth of New York will get new life as City24x7 Company has proposed the authorities of the New York for installing the “SmartScreen” stations at the old and dull phone booths.

It is hoped that the introduction of SmartScreen would make the boring looking telephone booth attractive. It has been informed that the SmartScreen will carry the contact information of the neighborhood.

The details of local restaurants, stores and safety alerts would also be available on the SmartScreen. The advent of mobile phones has almost done away the need of using phone booths. It has further been revealed that the touch screen would have a 311 icon which would allow the users to access City information and file complaints.

There is also a surprise package for the users of laptop and smartphones. The City24 x7 has informed that the updated phone booths will serve the purpose of wireless hotspots. A person standing next to the phone booth would be able to connect to the internet for free of cost.

It has been informed that initially, about 250 SmartScreens would be installed and later on, the rest of the phone booths would be upgraded.
