Brides Adopt Unhealthy Measures to Lose Weight

A study by the Cornell University researchers has found recently that most of the women, who are engaged, are conscious about their weight and want to lose as much as 20 pounds.

It has been told by the team that apart from their own wish, celebrities play a major role in inspiring them to lose weight. In particular, brides always look for a smaller size to appear attractive and beautiful at their wedding, as the memories are everlasting.

The team has also quoted some examples, including that of Jennifer Derrick, who, seeing herself as putting weight and unfit for her grandmother's bridal dress, started to take prescription pills under the supervision of a doctor so she may wear the same.

It has been revealed that she was already 125 pounds at the time of her marriage on March 18 and had put on weight with time, reaching 159 pounds. She is in love with her grandma's bridal gown, says the report, which fitted her at that time.

Another woman's creeping weight made her to follow a diet that offered 800 calories a day. She has told that she wanted to shop for a wedding gown and thus, spent eight days on a feeding tube, even while going to business.

Concerning the urge of women to lose weight, Dr. Louis Aronne, the Director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center said, "Celebrities are not known for doing things that are necessarily the healthiest or most sensible in many parts of their lives. Nutrition should probably be included in that".

The FDA says that one, in order to lose nearly 20 pounds, takes the guidance of a trainer. She takes injections along with a 500-calorie diet and weekly meetings with a registered nurse. The same, including medical screening and the hormone, is not only expensive but is risky to health as well.
