First Representation of Christianity Discovered

As per a research, which has been carried out by a group of researchers from the University of Carolina, it has been revealed that an artifact found in an ancient Jerusalem tomb is the first representation of Christianity.

Lead researcher James Tabor of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte said that in order to reach at the above given conclusion, they explored the tomb, where an ossuary has been kept. The artifact is sealed in the tomb which is an apartment in Jerusalem. The tomb is said to be date back in A. D. 70.

Tabor said that they did not go to explore the place rather they used a remote camera to explore the tomb. It has been found that the tomb is 6.5 feet deep and is on the side of Jerusalem.

The camera was able to capture photos, which has been reported in the journal The Bible and Interpretation. The first picture had inscription, which depicted Jehovah and the second picture had a fish which represented the Jonah.

Tabor said that if the inscriptions are to be fully understood then religion experts will realize that they have found the oldest Christian artifacts and also the first ever evidence of faith in Jesus' resurrection.

It is not that such artifacts have not been used by the later Christian groups, but it is something, which helped in spreading the faith in later centuries. A lot many controversies have taken place and many biblical scholars have disputed the tomb's connections to Christianity.

However, Tabor said that they believe it is the earliest artifacts to establish Christianity. “The engraver has apparently rather ingeniously combined what we took to be the stick figure of Jonah with the four Hebrew letters spelling out his name”, he further affirmed.
