Aiming to raise funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care, this time it is turn of swimmers nationwide to come forward and contribute a hand in the welfare of such patients. There are in total 645 pools where the world’s biggest fundraising swim will take place and among them Beverley Leisure Complex is one of them.

If you also wish to become a part of this challenging swim or you desire to contribute for this charity in some or the other ways then visit the complex on Sunday, 29 April between 9 am and noon and cheer up those swimmers who with their excellent whirling techniques will perform the show.

Swimathon Weekend 2012’ is the name that has been given to this event and it included 5k, 2.5k and Team 5k Distance Challenges and Sport Relief through the new ‘Big Splash Mile'.

By this weekend, the swimmers in the East Riding have successfully achieved a handsome amount and now they will make a splash for charity for raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

As said by Nick Saunders, swimming coordinator at Beverley Leisure Complex: "It is going to be fantastic to see so many people in our community getting in the pool for this fundraising challenge. People taking part will be having fun, as well as raising money for great causes".

With the help of this fund, patients will be provided nursing care with no charges at all and large groups of people suffering from terminal cancers and other lethal illnesses will be supported. As expected by the charity, with the fund amount they will be able to offer care and medical services to around 31,000 lethally ill patients not only in the community but in its rest homes also this financial year.
