As per a recent research, it has been revealed that people, who take fish on regular basis, have reduced risk of being diagnosed with colon and rectal cancers. The study findings are based on the assessment of 41 studies, which were aimed to find out the link between the diet rich in fish and diagnosis of cancer.

Dr. Michael Gochfeld, who is a Professor of environmental and occupational medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, was of the view that fish is quite healthy for people, as it contains a lot of essential nutrients.

Such nutrients cannot be found in fish supplements, which are rich in omega 3, but does not provide other essential nutrients. It shall, however, be noted that they have talked about fresh fish and not about the one, which are cold stored.

Dr. Jie Liang of Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases in Xi'an, and co-author of the study, was of the view that having chicken or fish which is cooked on high inflame also increases the risk of being diagnosed with cancer.

"People who rarely eat fish may experience health benefits in a variety of areas -- heart disease, reproductive and now colon cancer -- by increasing their fish consumption somewhat”, said Michael.
