National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Richland County conducted a major fundraiser on Saturday at the fairgrounds. It has been in forefront for tackling issue of mental illness and it is the time that it has undertaken such an initiative. It managed to raise $10,000 for the education purpose and to raise awareness among people regarding this issue.

The Annual Awareness and Wellness Walk featured the first public appearance of the NAMImobile. It was launched last week at the Ohio Statehouse. The event gathered a lot of attention with people like former State Senator and NAMI Ohio President Robert Spada personally attending. The 5 km walk also included many vendors, that showcased their services which they provide in order to help people with mental illness.

Mr. Spada on this occasion also drove the NAMImobile as part of a statewide anti-stigma tour. The main aim of this is to make people aware about the symptoms of mental illness so that it can be detected at an early stage. There was support generated for the event that shows that there is a huge support for people with mental illness. It is one of the most awaited mast fundraisers of the year and each year, it gets bigger and bigger.
