2 Wolves Died At Denali National Park

Death of two primary breeding female wolves at Denali National Park has raised concerns. The park is said to be one of the viewed as well as valuable wild wolf pack in Denali, but now it seems that it can soon lose the status.

The Granite Creek wolves died couple of months back due to trappers, who set a trapping line across the eastern boundary and catch these wolves. A lot many times, it has been said that buffer zone should be re-issued in the park, but no action has been taken yet.

Buffer zone was active till 2010, but the Board of Fish and Game took away the ban. But recent incident has led some biologists to call for the buffer zone again. Rick Steiner, who is a biologist and former Professor at University of Alaska, was of the view, "For the state to just simply allow a couple of guys to trap them to kill them as they migrate across the boundary seem irrational to be gentle about it".

He further affirmed that the loss of two breeding wolves will be evident for this year, as their will no pups, which can lead to extinction of the wolves pack.
